Kingfisher Sky

Kingfisher Sky is a Dutch symphonic metal band from The Hague, South Holland. The band was formed when drummer Ivar de Graaf left the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. The Kingfisher Sky was founded as a collaboration between Ivar de Graaf and vocalist Judith Rijnveld. They initially started a band named Jambone but this band ceased to exist after only a year. Ivar and Judith then decided they would take some years to write songs that appealed to them. Ivar’s background was progressive rock and traditional folk while Judith had a classical conservatory background with a preference for soul. The two managed to combine their likes in order to form their first album. In 2006 they made a demo containing 11 tracks. The band was signed in 2007 to Suburban Records. Their debut album Hallway Of Dreams was released in October of 2007 by Suburban Records. Hallway Of Dreams was rereleased by Laser’s Edge on March 25, 2008.

Discography (That I Own)

  1. Hallway Of Dreams (2008) – The Rereleased version by Kingfisher Sky. The album began with bombastic power, a thick Middle Eastern tinged guitar riffs, nimble drum fills, lush keyboards and then of course Judith’s beautiful vocals. She has a beautiful voice, especially when she sings the songs that have a bit of celtic vibe or folk edge. This band manages to weave Folk, Celtic, and Symphonic Metal together in a beautiful harmonious blending.

In Conclusion
They cannot release their second album soon enough. I want to hear more of this group!
